Painting is like creating a very public diary and this entry is from the part of my life when I worked as a cook for a mining company in Keno City, Yukon. Easily the hardest job I have ever done, yet a fantastic experience. Fortunately I did not have to cook in a tent but in a bona fide historical building called "The Bottle House".
The painting above is another jewel of Canadian history that resides on Keno Hill and is located at the Keno 200 Adit. The iconic ore cart rests on rusted rails before a spectacular view of Mt Hinton in the distance behind Bunker Hill, and Hope Gulch to the left. On the morning I was to leave for home, I drove up Keno Hill to sketch this relic and to add to my million amazing photos of this special place.
