3.5 x 5 feet, oil on canvas
I am preparing for a show in October, so every day of painting counts. They won’t be all small paintings so I thought to share the process.
1/ I was gripped, inspired and compelled to try to capture the feeling of pure joy in these telling eyes. I have selected a large canvas on a stretcher frame built by my father at least 5 years ago, which makes this work extra special.
2/ It is challenging working large but I am pleased with the results. Keeping it loose and enjoying a colourful approach. The cerulean blue sky and warm background is to give the impression of the sunny desert type climate of Cache Creek.
3/ Love the results of the jeans and blanket. Painting loose does not mean with out care and deliberation. This area was really fun to paint.
4/ Progress on Rambler, almost there. Paying attention to the details but painting loose and expressively to relay a message of fresh air, joy and motion.
