While convalescing from a broken wrist, I found a unique little caffè in the tiny village of Lumby about 15 minutes from my home. Having a passione di caffe, a direct tie to Italy (mia sorella), an immediate friendship with the owner and a bit of time on [one of] my hands ... I went to work on a bit of marketing for their unique and authentically Italian caffè.
The resulting logo is a cheerful patriotic image, the espresso cup a reflection of both their product and the chairs in the caffè. Yesterday Caffè Mazzega was named “Best New Business of the Year 2011” by the Lumby & District Chamber of Commerce. www.caffemazzega.com
I painted and posted this painting of my father for Remembrance Day in 2008. It was a special tribute to my Father, a soldier who served in the Second World War.
This year I would like to offer this painting as a tribute to all Fathers who made such extraordinary sacrifices for our Country, their children’s, and our children’s futures ... lest we forget.
On my father’s 80th birthday I was fortunate to have him share with me the story of his life during WWII. I wrote furiously while he remembered, a moment in time I will be forever grateful for.
Here is a story of this one man’s experience of a time we can hardly imagine. AEH_bio.pdf
Thank you Dad, I love you.
