After being away for six weeks, I am happy to be home now and in the studio ... the Okanagan studio of beauty landscapes where ever I turn. The above scene was the result of turning around when I had pulled off the road for a phone call. I debated the discomforts of painting in the rain but the sun was drenching this Lumby farm in a spectacular way so I setup the umbrella and got to work. The fleeting sun and the cold rain made my strokes spontaneous and energetic ... ah another day in the office!
In August I participated in The Silver Star Food & Wine Festival. Kal and Maria Molnar of Gallery Odin organized an art gallery in the town centre as well as six artists (including myself) to paint en plein air for the patrons of the festival. The resulting paintings were auctioned to help raise money for the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation. I am pleased to announce that $1325.00 was donated and we had a great time!
